A Winter Wedding Dessert Bar at Herrington on the Bay

Hannah & Kenneth | January 10, 2026

On January 10, 2026, I headed to Herrington on the Bay for my very first time—and it couldn’t have been for a more perfect reason. Hannah and Kenneth’s winter wedding was equal parts romantic, refined, and thoughtfully curated, proving that January weddings can be just as breathtaking as any summer celebration.

The color palette was a soft and elegant blend of sky blue, sage green, and white. While I don’t get many winter weddings, this combination paired with the waterfront venue immediately sparked inspiration. Add in the fact that the couple gave me complete creative freedom, and I knew this dessert bar was going to be something truly special.

The dessert bar served as the main source of sweets for the evening, designed to feel abundant, inviting, and seamlessly integrated into the overall wedding aesthetic. A small red velvet cake was displayed for a classic cake-cutting moment, while guests were treated to an elevated assortment of individually curated desserts.

The spread included:

  • Custom decorated sugar cookies by The Savory Soirée (her attention to detail is unmatched)

  • Mini tres leches parfait cups

  • Mini cheesecakes

  • Chocolate chip cookies

  • Choco-mint flavored cupcakes

  • Mini cannoli and cream puffs

  • Ferrero Rocher truffles

  • M&M’s

  • Key lime chocolate–flavored pretzels

  • Chocolate covered strawberries and more!

For the styling, I leaned into organic textures and timeless florals. Hydrangeas—my absolute favorite—were used as the cake topper, paired with lush eucalyptus greenery throughout the display. We utilized the venue’s rustic wooden tabletop, allowing the natural grain of the wood to shine against the soft tones of the desserts. Positioned near the dock, the dessert bar became a quiet focal point, framed by the water and winter sky.

Although the day was rainy, it never dampened the spirit. If anything, the overcast light added a cozy, intimate feel that made the dessert bar feel even more inviting. These images were captured on my iPhone, but I couldn’t wait to share this setup—it was one of those designs that deserved to be documented, even before the professional photos arrive.

This wedding was a reminder of why I love what I do: creating experiences that feel intentional, beautiful, and memorable for both couples and their guests. Hannah and Kenneth trusted the process, and together we created a dessert moment that was just as meaningful as it was delicious.

More professional images to come—but for now, here’s a little winter wedding magic.
